Title

New and Elegant Patterns for Ladies Winter Gloves and Mitts

Subject

women's clothing, accessory

Description

Pattern in the New Lady's Magazine. This January 1787 pattern for gloves and mitts was reprinted (though oppositely oriented) from Wheble's Lady's Magazine for December 1772. This was one of several patterns in the New Lady's Magazine that originated in the Lady's Magazine. Hogg's New Lady's Magazine also appropriated a lot of written content and other engravings from the original Lady's Magazine, much to the consternation of its editors. This is the only embroidered glove/mitt pattern to appear in the Lady's Magazine between 1770 and 1819.
