Jessica is a student representative. Jessica is a first generation academic from a working-class background who has self-funded her education from the start, working full time during her undergrad, full time while teaching in her first MA, and investing in her further education. She is dedicated to ensuring all students are seen, heard, understood and respected by the University, its administration, its staff and other students. Jessica volunteers as a student rep because she shares the Kent Union philosophy to create an inclusive and supportive anti-ablest, anti-ageist, anti-classist, anti-homophobic, anti-misogynistic, anti-racist, anti-transphobic, and otherwise anti-othering academic community. Jessica is committed to listening to the concerns of her fellow students and offering them non-judgemental signposting advice so they can access further support or assistance on all matters of disrespect or discomfort. In her role as student rep, Jessica persistently advocates for MEMs students in divisional meetings and student voice forums in hopes of improving the academic experience at Kent for everyone, present and future.
Jessica enjoys broad interests in early modern history and literature, with a focus on Stuart politics, gender, and culture. She also holds a deep love for Ancient Greek mythology, poetry, and drama.
