About

I am a PhD candidate in the School of History. My research is on finding new methods to study animals and human-animal interactions in the setting of the semi ‘wild’ environments of South African nature reserves. I hope to be able to escape the world of ‘paper’ animals in which I as a historian often remain stuck. My research is inspired by a broad plethora of fabulous work that has been done in the field of Environmental History and Human-Animal studies but lately mostly by Vinciane Despret’s call/question ‘what would animals say if we asked the right questions?’
