Our very own <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/physics-astronomy\/people\/1322\/wozniakiewicz-penny\">Dr Penelope Wozniakiewicz<\/a> kicked off the first lecture of the academic year on the 3rd of October. Her talk, titled \u201cCosmic Dust\u201d, provided plenty of detail and insights on the back of <a href=\"https:\/\/research.kent.ac.uk\/astrophysics-and-planetary-science\/2021\/07\/23\/the-hunt-for-micrometeorites-on-the-roof-of-the-cathedral-of-canterbury\/\">her recent media coverage<\/a>\u00a0involving the collection of cosmic dust on the rooftops of Canterbury Cathedral.<\/p>\n<p>The lecture drew a substantial audience, with over 70 attendees, and sparked an engaging discussion afterward. It was an honour to have Dr Cyril Isenberg, the former organiser of the Kent Physics Centre lecture series, in attendance as well.<\/p>\n<p>We now look forward to the next public lecture on the 7th of November (at 7pm), which will be given by <a href=\"https:\/\/warwick.ac.uk\/fac\/sci\/physics\/staff\/academic\/edwards\/\">Dr Rachel Edwards from the University of Warwick<\/a>, on several non-destructive testing methods employing ultrasound.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After a long hiatus, the Kent Physics Centre lecture series has returned!
