When will you respond? Investigating factors influencing neurotypical children’s response latencies

This study will investigate how different factors influence the time it takes for a child to respond.

What does this study involve?

This is an in-person study which will require your child to join a researcher for a 30-minute session at the KCDU. During the study, your child will complete a fun activity presented in a video-game-style on a laptop. This will involve two virtual characters asking your child simple questions, such as “Do you like the taste of strawberries?”. Your child will be asked to provide yes/no verbal responses to 48 questions. At the end of the task, your child will also be asked to provide ratings about the two characters in the game.

Who can participate?

Typically-developing children aged between 7- and 11-years are invited to participate in this study. We cannot include any participants who have difficulties with hearing, language processing, or attention, or those who have been diagnosed with any developmental disorders (ADHD, Autism, etc). In addition, we can only include participants who have grown up speaking English at home from birth.
