Principal Investigator (UK Lead)

About

Lavinia Brydon is Senior Lecturer in the School of Arts at the University of Kent. Focussing on film and media, her research interests centre on issues of place, space and the environment. These extend from questions of on-screen representation to current debates regarding exhibition sites, location filming, cultural tourism and, more recently, eco-critical work. Tallying with her background in community arts, she has also developed a strong public engagement strand to her research.

In the last few years, Lavinia has led a number of interdisciplinary projects around creative place-making practices, including an AHRC-funded project called ‘Unfiltered Coast’ (2021-2022), an Arts Council England (Creative Estuary)-funded project tilted ‘Liminal Spaces’ (2021-22) and the BA-funded ‘Imagineering the South African City’ (2019).
