Co-designed research, exhibition and music performance on the social impacts of the regeneration of Folkstone

The project is a collaboration between the Centre for Heritage, Folkstone Fringe/Urban Room and composer Anna Braithwaite. It aims to research the social effects of the regeneration of Folkstone on its local populations via interviews conducted with a wide selection of informants. The interviews are conducted by selected residents. To engage further local residents, a workshop was organised to gather their views on the regeneration and future of Folkstone in June 2017. The results of this workshop and interviews will be shared with the public via an exhibition and talks in Folkstone’s Urban Room during Folkstone Triennial and Folkstone Fringe. The research will also be used for a piece of music written by Anna Braithwaite, entitled ‘Cabin Cafe Cantata’, for performance at Folkstone Fringe (Oct. 14th-16th 2017). The public will engage with the research during open days at the Urban Room (the weekend performance of the music Oct. 14th-16th, 2017). It will access the exhibition, attend talks and Q&A sessions, and give feedback on the research. Dr Labadi will use this research for a major article, with contribution from residents.
