Throughout this collaborative research project, Alejandro and Gavin have numerous interviews both in person and via video conference with leading actors in the counterterrorism field. These include the UN Special Rapporteur on the promotion and protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms while countering terrorism, counterterrorism specialists from think tanks (mainly in the United States, United Kingdom and the Netherlands), and representatives from various counterterrorism networks, social media platforms and international organisations – including the UN Counterterrorism Executive Directorate (CTED), Tech against Terrorism, and some of the key founding members of the Global Internet Forum to Counter Terrorism (including Google, Twitter and Facebook).
The interview material will form the empirical basis of a collaborative research article on Global Security Assemblages to be submitted for publication in Summer 2019.
