‘Coalitions of the Willing and International Law’ book cover

Alejandro’s book Coalitions of the Willing and International Law: The Interplay between Formality and Informality was published by Cambridge University Press, in August 2018. A book launch took place at ITAM, in January 2019. Professors Benedict Kingsbury (NYU), Mónica Serrano (El Colegio de México), and Ambassador Juan Manuel Gómez Robledo (UN International Law Commission) presented the book.

In this book, Alejandro analyses how global action and regulation is increasingly the result of complex interactions between formal organizations and law, on the one hand, and informal venues and norms, on the other. It examines these interplays in climate change and global security governance, in particular the counter-terrorism and counter-proliferation assemblages.
