About

Maha Abdullah is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pathology, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) where she is currently the Head.  She is also an Associate Researcher with the Institute of Bioscience, UPM.  She started her research on classification of acute leukaemias based on immunophenotyping and gene recombination of T-cell receptor genes.  Drug resistance, leukaemia cell survival and cell death were examined in the context of growth factors, cytokines and signalling pathways.   Currently she is interested in screening biomarkers in leukaemia stem cells as indicators of treatment outcome.  She is equally interested in profiling immunodulation of peripheral blood lymphocytes from various factors and identifying biomarkers for selection of disease resistant grouper.  She completed her Master Degree in Universiti of Malaya and obtained her Ph.D. from UPM.
