About

Lina Mikaliunaite has joined the Department of Biochemical Engineering at UCL after completing her PhD studies at Aston University in Professor Roslyn Bill’s lab. During her PhD she has focused on functional studies of G protein-coupled receptors in yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae. In this multidisciplinary project she has investigated strategies for optimising recombinant protein production. Lina is especially interested in engineering the host cell for the purpose of increasing functional protein yield. Lina is a post-doctoral research associate based at UCL. Her role is to develop a yeast fermentation process for the production of animal vaccine against porcine circovirus type 2D and 3 which are the predominant virus types in the South-East Asia. Lina is member of Prof. Mukhopadhyay’s group who have a strong research expertise in developing bioprocesses for vaccine manufacturing.
