Canterbury Cathedral: Digital Scan Imagery

Kent School of Architecture and Planning (KSAP) was approached by Canterbury Cathedral to scan the external fabric of the cathedral to produce a rendered point cloud image for display as a large backdrop wall. The image acted as an eye-catching display, drawing visitors up a stair where visitors were invited to view the exterior of the Cathedral. The point cloud image of the Cathedral, continued the theme from a frieze telling the story of Canterbury Cathedral’s exterior, expressed through artist’s interpretations across time; showing how the Cathedral has been represented by artists across time – bringing us to the most up-to-date representation of the Cathedral today using digital technology.
