We regularly advertise for research staff to join CHSS which is highly-regarded and has an extensive track record in applied health and social care research. Staff members have opportunities to work with national health and social care experts in PRUComm, the Personal Social Services Research Unit (PSSRU), KMMS and ARC KSS. There are also opportunities to work with researchers across the university and with our NHS and local authority partners. These opportunities will be further supported by the launch of the University’s new Institute for Health, Social Care and Wellbeing.

CHSS researchers work with a wide range of local, regional and national organisations including the NHS, local authorities, charities and third sector organisations. We also have extensive international research links. We are keen to work with local and regional organisations on developing research ideas and projects designed to meet their evidence and research needs. Currently CHSS has large working partnerships such as the NIHR Applied Research Collaboration with over 40 partners, The NIHR funded local authority partnership with Kent County Council’s social care department and a new Health Determinants Research Collaboration with Medway Borough Council. Local partners include Kent and Medway Clinical Commissioning Group, Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust, East Kent University Hospitals NHS Foundation, Pilgrims Hospices Trust and Kent County Council.

We are always pleased to receive enquiries about research and training.
