{"id":2026,"date":"2021-12-15T12:02:40","date_gmt":"2021-12-15T12:02:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/research.kent.ac.uk\/clho\/?p=2026"},"modified":"2023-10-04T17:16:44","modified_gmt":"2023-10-04T16:16:44","slug":"maritime-hydrogen-highway-mhh","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/research.kent.ac.uk\/celsa\/maritime-hydrogen-highway-mhh\/","title":{"rendered":"Maritime Hydrogen Highway (MHH)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/maritimeh2.co.uk\/\">Maritime Hydrogen Highway<\/a>\u00a0is\u00a0a ground-breaking development project looking at establishing\u00a0a national hydrogen highway network, integrating land,\u00a0sea\u00a0and port.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:10,&quot;335551620&quot;:10,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">This is a Maritime Research and Innovation UK (MarRI-UK) initiative supported by the Department for Transport (DfT) which will last for two years and benefit from \u00a31.3 million towards the \u00a32.1 million total cost.\u00a0The project consortium is led by the\u00a0Port of London Authority (PLA)\u00a0and is comprised of\u00a0academic and business partners\u00a0from\u00a0OS Energy, University of Strathclyde, University of Kent, HSE, ORE Catapult, University of\u00a0Birmingham\u00a0and Newcastle Marine Services, supported by a number of other ports, operators and trade associations.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:10,&quot;335551620&quot;:10,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The six project work packages cover energy diversity research, trialling hydrogen power generation for vessels based at the PLA\u2019s Denton Wharf, establishing the business case for back hauling hydrogen into central London, ship design and health &amp; safety requirements.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">MarRI-UK launched its initial call for project proposals in November 2020. The Hydrogen Highway project was the sole one selected for funding, from 19 submissions.
