Nick Hayes is a graphic novelist, illustrator, and designer, who lives in East London. In 2004 Hayes was one of the founding editors of Meat Magazine, a bi-annual periodical showcasing new writing, comics and illustration. He draws a monthly cartoon for the Literary Review, and in 2010 began contributing occasional political cartoons to The Guardian.
In 2011 Hayes’ graphic novel The Rime of the Modern Mariner was published by Jonathan Cape, a retelling of the classic story in which the hero is becalmed in a maelstrom of plastic waste. The Times described it as ‘a work of sustained labour, and often, a thing of soaring beauty.
