I will present results from the SPARKS and ALMA-IMF observing programmes that reveal a large number of protostellar cores in massive Galactic clumps. Spectroscopic observations are used to characterise these protostellar cores in a greater detail and infer the physical conditions of the collapsing gas. Sylvain Bontemps and dr.
