Talk Outline
Solar Orbiter is a new Sun-observing space mission that was launched in February 2020. Its main objectives are to perform unprecedented close-up observations of the Sun, including first images of the polar regions, and to investigate the Sun-Earth connection. Its scientific payload consists of 10 instruments built by consortia across Europe and the US. I will briefly describe these instruments and present the first data acquired during the cruise phase.
