Duncan Mifsud has been selected as a winner of the 2022 Graduate and Research College Prize for Postgraduate Champion.
Every year the Graduate and Researcher College awards a series of prizes in different categories (e.g., postgraduate researcher, postgraduate teacher, research degree supervisor, etc.) so as to “recognise the excellence of its postgraduate researcher and the outstanding work carried out by academic and professional service staff in support of postgraduate research and education”.
To be considered for a prize, postgraduate research students must first be nominated after which an independent committee then reviews each application. Prizes are awarded based on the following criteria:
- Outputs: e.g., publications, practice, and conference papers.
- Impact: this might include public engagement activities (e.g., talks or exhibitions or engagement with non-higher education institutions such as placements or internships).
- Research Rigour and Quality: with evidence of the sustained quality of the research and academic performance of the individual.
- Leadership and Academic Citizenship: e.g., helping others, mentoring (formal or informal), community-building activities beyond the student’s own research project.
This year Duncan’s work has been recognised with the Postgraduate Researcher Champion award!!
I’m quite chuffed to have won it, to be honest, as I know the competition for this prize can be quite fierce.
