SEDIGISM is an international CO molecular line survey of the a large section of the inner Galactic Plane (74 sq. degrees). This survey has been conducted with the APEX telescope with time being provided by all of the partners (Max Planck Institute for Radio Astronomy, ESO, University of Chile and Onsala).

Dr James Urquhart is a Co-I on this project and was responsible for leading the proposals to the MPIfR time allocation committee. He is currently Co-Chair of the SEDIGISM collaboration (the other two Co-Chairs are Drs Dario Colombo (MPIfR) and Ana Duarte-Cabral (Cardiff)) and Co-Chair of the Galactic Plane Working Group with Ana Duarte-Cabral (Cardiff).

The survey was completed in 2020 with the first papers focusing on the whole survey being published in early 2021 to coincide with the first complete data release. For access to the data and list of publications click on the following link and see the accompanying press release for more information.
