{"id":9516,"date":"2025-07-18T11:44:48","date_gmt":"2025-07-18T10:44:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/research.kent.ac.uk\/applied-optics\/?p=9516"},"modified":"2025-07-18T12:44:31","modified_gmt":"2025-07-18T11:44:31","slug":"aog-researchers-attend-kings-college-london-faculty-awards-evening-on-8th-july-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/research.kent.ac.uk\/applied-optics\/2025\/07\/18\/aog-researchers-attend-kings-college-london-faculty-awards-evening-on-8th-july-2025\/","title":{"rendered":"AOG Researchers Attend King\u2019s College London Faculty Awards Evening on 8th July 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Although <strong>Dr Mike Hughes<\/strong>, also part of the team, was unable to attend, all four researchers were part of the <strong>Revitalise Team<\/strong>, which had been nominated for a <strong>Collaborative Research Excellence Award<\/strong> in the Research category.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Revitalise project<\/strong> (&#8220;Sensorised Micro-Surgical Robot For Safe Regenerative Retinal Therapy Delivery&#8221;), coordinated by <strong>Prof Christos Bergeles (KCL)<\/strong>, brings together a multidisciplinary team spanning optics, robotics, clinical science, and engineering. The AOG team contributed through the development of <strong>ultra-thin endoscopic sensing devices<\/strong> designed for integration into surgical robots. These devices enable precise imaging and guidance during delicate retinal procedures. A recent publication detailing this work can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/opg.optica.org\/ao\/fulltext.cfm?uri=ao-64-20-5748&amp;id=573859\">here in Applied Optics<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Although the team didn\u2019t take home the award, the evening was a great opportunity to celebrate the nomination and network with collaborators and fellow researchers across the life sciences and medicine.
