On Wednesday 6th of March, several AOG members (Prof Adrian Podoleanu, Dr Mike Hughes, Dr Manuel Marques, Dr Yong Hu, Dr Chai Mididoddi, and Mr Andy Thrapp) attended the ninth edition of the Image Guided Therapies Network+ (IGT+) meeting, which took place at the St Thomas’ Hospital campus of King’s College London. The main event, which took place in the afternoon, was preceded by an Early Career Researcher (ECR) workshop, which included a few educational presentations as well as several 5-minute rapid fire talks from ECRs.<\/p>\n

Several AOG members presented at the ECR event: Dr Manuel Marques<\/a> presented a talk titled “Multi-modal OCT\/fluorescence endomicroscopy probe with robotic 2-D scanning<\/em>“, Dr Yong Hu<\/a> presented a talk titled “Master-Slave en-face OCT images of the retina and cornea in an integrated chin rest system” and Mr Andy Thrapp<\/a> presented a poster titled “Structured Illumination Endomicroscopy with Motion Compensation<\/em>“.<\/p>\n

In the main afternoon event there were some distinguished invited talks intercalated with two brief presentations from the awardees of the IGT-funded proof-of-concept awards<\/a>. These two presentations both involved the AOG: the first one, in collaboration with Prof Ioan Notingher<\/a> from the University of Nottingham, involves a combination of both OCT and Raman spectroscopy to target glue ear diagnosis<\/a>; and the second one, in collaboration with Dr Jason Raymond<\/a>, Dr Carr Everbach and Dr Ronald Roy from the University of Oxford, involves employing OCT imaging to characterise (and eventually avoid)\u00a0 lesions caused by high-intensity focused ultrasound skin burns. Dr Manuel Marques presented alongside Dr Jason Raymond the preliminary study carried out so far, with some promising results stemming from this collaboration.<\/p>\n
