Dr. \u00a0<\/span>Bettina Heise, Lead Scientist OCT &amp; Digital Imaging at RECENDT &#8211; Research Center for Non Destructive Testing &#8211; GmbH Linz, Austria, visited Applied Optics Group (AOG) on 29th May 2026.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><a href=\"https:\/\/netlas.aogkent.uk\/recendt\/\">RECENDT was one of the associated partners in the European <strong>ITN NETLAS<\/strong> research project<\/a> which finished in November 2025, having the mission to promote the <strong>transfer of technology<\/strong> from science to industry, and where Dr. Bettina Heise, as head of OCT technology group,\u00a0 maintained a close cooperation and contact between the NETLAS project partners.<\/div>\n<div><a href=\"https:\/\/netlas.aogkent.uk\/welcome\/introduction\/\"><strong>NETLAS<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0trained 15 Early Stage Researchers (ESRs) at 8 world-leading academic institutions, and 6 non-academic institutions, thus forming strong interdisciplinary relations implemented through employment of ESRs in academia as well as industry, and through inter-sectoral secondments for all ESRs.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<h6>More about\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/netlas.aogkent.uk\/\">NetLaS \u2013 NExt Generation of Tunable LASers for Optical Coherence Tomography<\/a><\/h6>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Dr. Bettina Heise\u00a0 delivered a presentation at<span data-olk-copy-source=\"MessageBody\"> 11:30 am in the Photonics Centre Conference room (Jennison Extension) entitled <em>&#8220;Quantum Sensing in Optics at RECENDT\u201d.<\/em><\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>After the presentation, <span lang=\"en-US\">Dr Heise visited the AOG\u2019s labs where she had the opportunity to talk to students and Postdocs about their latest research results.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<div><span data-olk-copy-source=\"MessageBody\"><strong>Short bio:<\/strong> more than 25 years in field of optics<\/span><\/div>\n<div>starting with optical sensor modelling for multi-phase fluids while in Eastern Germany, in Austria\/Linz University<\/div>\n<div>continuing with image and signal processing for microscopy<\/div>\n<div>Later: responsible for OCT technology at RECENDT<\/div>\n<div>Now: retired at University, some consulting tasks for RECENDT<\/div>\n<div>In long contact to AOG at Kent University<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-11424\" src=\"https:\/\/research.kent.ac.uk\/applied-optics\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1653\/2026\/06\/B22-300x289.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"271\" height=\"261\" \/>\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-11427\" src=\"https:\/\/research.kent.ac.uk\/applied-optics\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1653\/2026\/06\/11-300x257.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"257\" srcset=\"https:\/\/research.kent.ac.uk\/applied-optics\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1653\/2026\/06\/11-300x257.jpg 300w, https:\/\/research.kent.ac.uk\/applied-optics\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1653\/2026\/06\/11-1024x876.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/research.kent.ac.uk\/applied-optics\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1653\/2026\/06\/11-768x657.jpg 768w, https:\/\/research.kent.ac.uk\/applied-optics\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1653\/2026\/06\/11-1536x1314.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/research.kent.ac.uk\/applied-optics\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1653\/2026\/06\/11.jpg 1920w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dipl.
