Optica (formerly OSA), Advancing Optics and Photonics Worldwide, is the society dedicated to promoting the generation, application, archiving and dissemination of knowledge in the field. Founded in 1916, it is the leading organization for scientists, engineers, business professionals, students and others interested in the science of light. Optica\u2019s renowned publications, meetings, online resources and in-person activities fuel discoveries, shape real-life applications and accelerate scientific, technical and educational achievement.<\/div>\n

Yann had the opportunity to discuss with AOG\u2019s members and reinforced the connections between the AOG and the Student Chapter schemes from Optica.<\/p>\n

Yann also attended Optics and Photonics for Healthcare Diagnostics Workshop on 10th March, organized by CADDA (Centre for Advanced Diagnostic Development and Application), a national programme set to drive innovation in human and animal diagnostics \u2013 led by the University of Kent in partnership with The University of Manchester and University College London (UCL) \u2013 a strategic programme with funding\u00a0 support from Research England.<\/p>\n

Yann said: ” A week of reconnecting with numerous great people and meeting with new ones, too. <\/em>
\nAs I was heading out to Canterbury to attend the excellent workshop in collaboration with Centre for Advanced Diagnostics Development and Application<\/a>, this gave me the opportunity to catch up with many people in Canterbury, South London, Guildford and Basingstoke. <\/em>
\nIt started with a discussion meeting students at the Applied Optics Group (AOG) from the University of Kent, and hopefully maintaining the excellent work done over several years by previous students. Thanks again to Lucy Abbott<\/a> and Adrian Fernandez Uceda<\/a> for bringing the team together! <\/em>
\nWhile in Canterbury, it is always great to catch up with Chao Wang<\/a> and Adrian Podoleanu<\/a>, very informative conversations.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Thank you again to Centre for Advanced Diagnostics Development and Application<\/a> and Adrian Podoleanu<\/a> for their invitation to a super interesting workshop on Tuesday 10 March called Optics and Photonics for Healthcare Diagnostics.<\/em>
\nThis took place at the University of Kent<\/a>, with great input from Adrian and the team at the Applied Optics Group (AOG). <\/em>
\nIf you are looking for really interesting technology in relation to healthcare, get in touch with the AOG team, they and CADDA are on something really good here, exciting ideas and plans from the NHS too.<\/em>
\nSuperb speakers, great to catch up with a few people from the 80+ delegates, and a really interesting lab tour afterwards. A sincerely fantastic day, thank you<\/em>!”<\/span><\/p>\n
