Visit by Professor Kevin Tsia

Professor Kevin Tsia giving talk

On 21st June 2018 we were pleased to welcome Professor Kevin Tsia from the Department  of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of Hong Kong.  His research interests covers a broad range of subjects, including ultra-fast real-time spectroscopy and microscopy for biomedical applications such as imaging flow cytometry and MHz optical coherence tomography. During his visit, Prof Tsia’s have a fascinating talk on:

All-optical laser scanning imaging cytometry for ultra large scale deep single cell image based analysis which was appreciated by an interdisciplinary audience which included members of SPS, EDA and Biosciences.  Following the talk, Prof Tsia was given a tour of the AOG labs in the Photonics Centre, where he saw our facilities and examples of research projects in OCT, laser sources, endomicroscopy and photoacoustics. We identified a number of common elements between the research of the AOG and Prof Tsia’s group, and there is definite potential for further collaborations. We are now looking forward to more reciprocal visits and interactions.
